Yesterday was your beloved daddy’s birthday. The big 3-1! He ended up surprising ME with the dinner plans and kept me guessing ‘til the end. But once the MINI rounded the corner towards the Eagle Creek Reservoir, suspense unveiled the secret. Yay! Rick’s CafĂ© Boatyard was on the horizon, set against a beautifully glowing sun and sparkling waters. What a perfect setting to celebrate an evening with someone dear to us both. My love. Your daddy.
With a feast of steak (for the birthday boy) and crab cakes, dessert was out of the question by the time dinner ended. Both of us began slithering into a food-induced coma, sinking lower and lower into the window-side booth. I thought for sure that daddy would need to unbutton his pants, but we managed to escape with all buttons and clothing fully secured. Taking a stroll down to the waterside gazebo, we enjoyed the view, making us feel as if the city were miles upon miles away. Nothing like a great span of water in the countryside to do just that!
Heading back home, I was still bothered by the lack of dessert for the evening. And not for me—for HIM! How can one celebrate a birthday without indulging the sweet tooth?! Because we could not even fit a wafer-thin bite of sweetness into our engorged bellies (ahem… mine more so!), daddy decided a trip to The Flying Cupcake later this week would satisfy all parties, including you! Hence, daddy will have some birthday sugar, even if it is 48 hours later.
It’s a happy ending after all…
Love,
Mommy
