This morning, the sun’s beams cascade through a window, splashing onto the floor. A breeze slips through an open doorway with a pup peering behind the glass. Echoes of giggles and beanbag rustling drift up the staircase. This is the morning scene as I plant myself before the glowing box and clicking keys to script another letter to you. I am beyond ready for autumn to arrive, and today’s outlook is a beautiful reminder of what’s to come. Soon, the leaves will be swinging and swaying down to the ground, providing ample space for the sunlight to flood our home. Soon, we can freely leave the door open to welcome the brisk air, and Caesar can spy all the bustle of the neighborhood. Soon, the fall season will be upon us, complete with simmering soups, fan-cheering football, and cozy cardigans. Have I mentioned how ready I am?
I am also ready to be at the halfway mark of carrying your baby brother or sister to the due date. Due date, schmoo date. You entered this world almost 4 weeks early so I have no idea what to expect for this next lil’ peanut. A healthy pregnancy and baby are on the wish list, for sure! As for whether the baby is a brother or sister to you, it will remain unbeknownst to us until the arrival day. And the surprise will be well worth it!
I ordered some pants upon a recommendation of a patient I cared for, as she was already donning them. They’re made of bamboo and look ultra comfy, which means they will probably become part of my daily wardrobe. Oh, the joy of gaining weight. Why not be absolutely comfortable while housing a special someone?! Please come soon, dear pants. My belly is expanding beyond my control!
And I’ve talked about the baby in my belly with you. I point to my tummy and exclaim, “There’s a baby in here! You’re going to be a big sister.” And to this, you continue to kick (I mean, bestow “love pats”) to my mid-region while I give you a diaper change. I can see how much this future sibling means to you.
With our family increasing in size, daddy and I have steadily been engaged in room configuration plans and seeking out a bed maker. That’s right—in our nine years of marriage, we have never owned a bed frame, and now seems like the perfect time to have a custom bed made. Hmmmm. With a baby on the way and needing to shuffle furniture into different rooms, yes…perfect timing. I kid you, but hey, I’m excited that we’ve found someone to make our unique bed. Perhaps we can really start concentrating on creating our bedroom into an oasis since, right now, it’s my least favorite room in the house. Step by step, it will come around one day, and I’ll be happy to spend time there other than snoooooozing.
For now, I get to focus on making your new bedroom into a little girl’s oasis. Oh, the possibilities…
Love,
Mommy
